Gascoyne Murchison Outback Pathways Book
Gascoyne Murchison Outback Pathways guide to "your self drive outback adventure." A 'must do' to discover the history, now time, flora, fauna and stories which abound in this most outstanding outback country.
This 175 page document is your companion for all or any of the three pathways through the Gascoyne and Murchison Regions. The Wool Wagon Pathway takes you over 1160 km from either Geraldton or Yalgoo, via Murchison Settlement and Gascoyne Junction to Exmouth. There are fifteen interpretive sites, four halls of history and a range of accommodation options, fuel stops and facilities en route. The Miners Pathway follows the route taken by Robert Austen in 1854. Travel the 970 km journey and explore the legacy of this remarkable period through the grand old buildings and the graveyards, the rusting machinery and the rich stories of those who lived in these whirlwind times. The Kingsford Smith Mail Run is 80 km from Carnarvon to Meekatharra, via Mt Augustus, follow in the wheel-ruts of Australia's most famous pilot and learn about the mail runs that liked this landscape. There are four Museums and Heritage Precincts, ten Visitor Centres and a range of accommodation, facilities and fuel stops to help you along the way.
