BY ROAD

If you're travelling from the south to Carnarvon along the North West Coastal Highway, turn left onto Carnarvon Road 6km before Carnarvon, an alternative access road into Carnarvon town centre.

If you miss the turn off, don’t panic: just turn left at the T-junction of Robinson Street and North West Coastal Highway, opposite Ampol and head into town.

If you're arriving from the north to Carnarvon along the North West Coastal Highway, just continue down Robinson Street.

Before setting off on your adventure it is important to check road conditions. Rainfall in the area can close the roads. Main Roads can provide information on major roads and highways, call 138 138 for current and updated information. For local road conditions and coastal stations, it is important to contact the stations directly or the Visitor Centre on (08) 9941 1146.

Don’t forget to look out for animals – you could encounter sheep, kangaroos, goats, cows, horses wandering across the road. Make sure you travel with plenty of water, food supplies and fuel so that should you have a break-down, you are self-sufficient until help arrives. Limited services are available at station shops, so your only closest destination for supplies is your return back to Carnarvon. Finally make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip including spare tyres and any necessarily items for your off-road adventure.
