Hosted at the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum, this immersive experience invites you to see the night sky through the eyes of the Yinggarda people. Beneath some of Western Australia's darkest skies, your Yinggarda cultural guide will share Dreaming stories and explain how the stars have guided seasonal movement, navigation and life on Country for tens of thousands of years.
Standing beside the historic OTC satellite dish, once part of the tracking network that supported NASA's Apollo missions, you'll also discover Carnarvon's remarkable role in the global space race. It's a rare opportunity to experience two knowledge systems, separated by thousands of years, yet connected by humanity's enduring fascination with the night sky.
As darkness falls, look through a telescope to explore distant planets, star clusters and galaxies before gathering in a relaxed yarning circle beneath the stars to enjoy a light grazing supper.

Saturday Evening: Astrophotography at the Carnarvon Space & Technology Museum
As darkness falls, photographers have the opportunity to experience something truly extraordinary.
Join Starbright Wonderland Photography for an immersive astrophotography workshop at the iconic Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum, where science, history and the night sky come together.
The evening begins before sunset with an in-depth theory session inside the museum theatre, where you'll learn how to confidently use your camera for night photography, including camera settings, focusing techniques, exposure and composition.
Then comes the highlight.
Workshop participants receive exclusive after-hours access to the museum grounds and the historic satellite dishes—an opportunity rarely available to the public. Once part of NASA's Deep Space Tracking Network that supported some of humanity's greatest space missions, these enormous dishes create one of Australia's most spectacular astrophotography locations.
As the Milky Way rises behind the dishes, you'll put your new skills into practice while learning how to adapt your camera settings for different compositions and lighting conditions.
Whether you're just starting your astrophotography journey or looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to photograph one of Western Australia's most iconic astronomical landmarks.
