Guided Walks and Seed Collection at the Arboretum with Dave Bauer
2026 is the year of direct seeding for the Arboretum.
Established more than 50 years ago by Dave Bauer and community volunteers, the Arboretum is a living seed bank filled with hardy native species perfectly adapted to our arid climate. It holds incredible potential for the future of Carnarvon and the wider Gascoyne.
Throughout June, join local legend Dave Bauer for relaxed and informal walk-and-talks through this remarkable community asset.
- Learn about the plants, shrubs, trees and wildflowers that make up the Arboretum
- Discover which species are best propagated by seed and which by cuttings
- Collect seeds and cuttings to take home
- Ask questions and tap into decades of local knowledge
- Enjoy a leisurely stroll – kids and dogs welcome
Whether you're a keen gardener, nature lover, or simply looking for a Saturday morning activity, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore the Arboretum through the eyes of the man who created it.
